Hi and welcome! I’m Susan Kendrick, an Alabama transplant living in upstate South Carolina for the last 13 years along with my husband, three kids and two dogs. Now smack dab in middle-age mom mode, I’m here to share (Titus 2 style) what I’ve learned thus far about being married to a man in full-time ministry, being intentional with my time, and trying to keep a welcoming home on a shoestring budget.
Why did you name your blog SusanAnyway?
OK yeah, that’s a legit weird and ambiguous name for a blog.
When I’m talking to my sisters or my mom, we use the word anyway to change subjects or indicate we have exhausted the current topic of conversation. It’s our way of saying, “This is all I know and I’m moving on.”
At SusanAnyway, I am going to tell you all I know about being a pastor’s wife or trying to make the most of a tiny budget or just how important it is to be a good friend. And it will be all I know, and then I’ll say, “So, anyway…” and you will know that we have plumbed the depths. And it’s time to move on to a new topic!
I'm so glad you're here!
My passion is helping all friends as we navigate the “now and the not yet”. While acknowledging that this world has its fair share of pain and hardship, let’s also look for the good gifts God gives us in our everyday lives.
Let’s be intentional about loving our Lord and loving those around us as well as we possibly can. While that may sound high-minded, I believe we do that in the little things – celebrating the beauty of nature when traveling, using the home we’ve been given to make a welcoming space for our family as well as strangers, even resting well and not living such distracted, fragmented lives!
Look, it’s hard to do these things on our own.
I’m here to be your cheerleader and encourage you as I walk my own journey alongside you.
Let’s make the most of it!
